## how to procrastinate

December 8, 2009 by sendtoharvey

everyone does it…calculating the minimum effort to get a certain grade…

it’s all opportunity cost…is it worth my time trying to get the A or just spend less time and accept the B…etc..

anyways, instead of studying, i spent the last 15 minutes calculating different scenarios for myself on the next test and final…it took me longer than normal because this professor takes your lowest exam score and makes it’s value 1/3 of a normal exam…anyways, proof that i was procrastinating

i even took the time to make an excel sheet to see if Aplia was calculating my percentage correctly for homework problems…it was not. Lets say you get a 5/5 and a 4/5 and a 7/10. It will average your percentage giving you an 83% instead of the 80% you deserve.

Now, this seemingly helps you right? Well in my scenario it is giving me a 96.2%, when i have a point total of 412.4 out of 427, which should give me a 96.58%…

why is this important? It is seemingly minuscule right? Well, yes and no. First of all my professor takes our homework out of 200 points, so your % * 200 gives you the points you earned on HW. My point total would be 192.4 with aplia’s percentage, and 193.16 with my calculated percentage. Rounded off, this could give me a 1 point edge in the total scoring of the class.

I know, I’m being picky on points…but it’s all part of the calculation to see what i need to score on the last exams, and every point counts right? 1 point could make or break you.
